New Zumba dance shoe review

Things have been so hectic, but I must let you guys know what I think of my new shoes.  Although I am not a fan of the color, this is the best dance shoe I have worn yet!  I had a horrible ankle sprain several weeks ago, which as you can imagine made it very difficult to give it my all in class. I was forced to use my lovely students to demonstrate moves I wasn't able to do, and had to wear an ankle brace  for several weeks.

I am still wearing ace bandage daily, although I am so much better now. Thank God. I was having emotional meltdowns from lack of Zumba.  It was a difficult trial. The main trial was that it took a lot longer for my ankle to heal do to my flat feet, not to mention I didn't stay off it as much as I should have. I needed even more ankle  and arch support.

Now, a short while back I wrote a review of the Sketcher's Danza shoe and gave it great reviews.  But these mama jamas are the best. They give you that beautiful slip and slide that only a dance shoe could give, but without the slip that they usually give. The best is that they have the best arch support and ankle support all in one. Don't be fooled. They are not a bulky basketball shoe. They are very light and breathable.  I just wish they came in a nicer color design. I mean they can get some ideas from NIKE, really. Here are some spec about the shoe.

Description

    Bloch Apex Mid Grap
They come in four different color choices. Based on the reviews, this shoe had a narrower fit, so I didn't want to take any chances.  I hope this is helpful to many of you who need more info to make wise choices in a dance fitness sneaker. The right shoe can make or break your fitness routine. Stay healthy and fit.

New Dance Sneaker Review for Zumba Fitness

I recently bought new shoes for my Zumba classes. It has been a challenge to find the right shoe because God did not gift me with perfect feet to do all the dancing I do. My biggest pain for the last couple of years have been my feet. I absolutely have no arch and I have all the symptoms that come with having flat feet, so I need all the support I can get. My first pair of dance shoes were Capezio Fierce Dance sneakers.
My first experience wearing them in class was wonderful, meaning I felt like a real dancer the way they allowed me to flow and turn on the dance floor. But the pain that followed wasn't pleasant. For someone without foot problems they are a great affordable dance shoe. They are medium width so they are not that great if you need a wide width shoe and they have absolutely no arch support, which I need. After much research, I understood that Bloch Dance sneakers provide excellent arch support and with all the great benefits of a dance shoe. Perfect. I ordered two pair in white and silver.
I must say it was a blessing to be able to walk with out pain after my Zumba classes. These shoes felt great. The only issue I had was that when I would do any type of athletic move other than dance like squats for example, it was difficult to have any grip on the floor. Slippy and slidey, great for twirling and swaying though!
Recently I came across a review for the Skechers Danza Shoe.
Really it was the color more than anything that caught my eye first. I love pink and purple and wear a lot of it in class and would love to have a pair to match. But honestly I was just window (computer) shopping. After reading the review I decided to give then a try and the verdict is in on my Skechers Danza shoes! They are perfect....for me anyway! As I mentioned earlier, I have flat feet and need a lot of arch support. Capezio has absolutely none. Bloch has great support but not enough grip on the floor. These Skechers are not only cute and light weight but have perfect arch support. They allow me to slip and move across the floor, but have better grip than my Bloch for athletic moves like low squats without trying to force me to split :). Did I mention they are cute too.  Of course there are other shoes that would work great for dance fitness. Unfortunately it isn't my budget to try them all. But  would have loved to buy these first , I would have saved a lot of money.
I want to stress the importance of having the right shoe when deciding to do Zumba Fitness on a regular basis. It is very important to prevent workout injuries. I hope this review was helpful. Keep on sweating and see you on the dancefloor!!

Bloch Party: Boost Your Dance Class Performance!

Bloch Party: Boost Your Dance Class Performance!

Screen shot 2011-12-13 at 11.01.12 PM.pngSo, what's the difference between this new line and the existing Bloch sneakers?  The past shoes were for dance only.  This new line has both fitness and rug cutting in mind.  According to Steve Smith, Head of US & European Sales for the company, "The Bloch Dance Fitness sneakers were designed with dancers in mind. A technically superior lightweight sole features a spin spot on the ball of the foot that offers the optimum ability to execute the full range of movements such as sliding and 360-degree rotations in dance fitness class for both dancers and non-dancers."  It's all about mobility.

Options with evocative names like Lightening, Apex and Traverse are made from super high-tech lightweight materials built for shock absorption, but also bounce.  (Now you can jump for joy safely!)

Most significantly, the company's dance expertise comes into play with a special "spin spot" on the ball of each foot, which is meant to make spinning and sliding easier, so you're not forcing your foot.  Padding that surrounds that spot is meant to help with balance and control and then the outer edges of the soles act as a break or grip.

In the last few years, Bloch has also launched a pretty adorable women's ready-to-wear shoe collection and they've employed the same designer, Jozette Hazzouri, for this sneaker line.  Decorative patterns on the slim sneakers -- in pretty colors, but also more basic black -- seem to suggest movement and were apparently inspired by the company's dance heritage.

If these shoes are as reliable as the company's famed ballet slippers, then they should be here to stay, especially for those who stay in shape via dance classes.

You might say they're a chip off the old Bloch.

    More about Bloch.
